2024 O’Brien County Fair Dates Announced!

PRIMGHAR – The O’Brien County Fair has announced its Fair Dates for 2024. The O’Brien County Fair will be held from July 20-25, 2024. The O’Brien County Fair will also celebrate its 100th Anniversary during the 2024 Fair!

Formed in 1924, the O’Brien County Stock Show & Agricultural Association sponsors O’Brien County Youth in their 4-H and FFA endeavors. From 1924 to 1951, the O’Brien County Fair was moved from city to city within O’Brien County. In 1951, the City of Primghar agreed to purchase land on the east side of town to create a permanent fairground location. Three livestock buildings were constructed for the 1951 fair; by 1960, eight buildings had been built.

The late 1980s brought more fairground construction, including the administration building, horse barn, and swine barn. During the 2010s, the Open Class Building and Wayne Maass Memorial Stage were added to the west side of the fairgrounds. The O’Brien County Fair Board has continued to update the fairgrounds and buildings over the years. The Fair Board has recently been busy with plans to renovate the Show Ring for 2024, with construction starting in 2023.

The O’Brien County Fair hopes to see you in 2024 at the 100-Year Celebration of the O’Brien County Fair, which runs from July 20-25, 2024!
